WASTE
Maximising recycling efforts
We work systematically to reduce, sort, recycle, and rethink waste across our production processes and facilities. Guided by a formal commitment to environmental licensed partners to ensure responsible disposal, traceability, and compliance at every level.
In 2024, Wendelbo recycled approximately 81.4% of its waste through scrap recovery and material reuse efforts.
At Wendelbo, we don’t view waste as an endpoint, but as part of a larger opportunity. From transforming sawdust into biofuel to reusing foam in soft furnishings, we actively look for creative, low-impact ways to give materials a second life. Leather off-cuts are repurposed into small goods such as wallets and accessories, while metal scraps, including iron and steel, are sorted, melted down, and reprocessed into new raw materials - supporting a more circular production cycle.
Our production site includes dedicated, clearly marked storage zones for each waste type, ensuring safety, compliance, and traceability throughout the process. All waste-handling partners work under a shared environmental commitment, aligning with strict standards for sorting, collection, transportation, and treatment.
While we have made significant strides, we know there is still room to improve. One key focus area for us is reducing textile waste, particularly off-cuts from our upholstery production. We are actively exploring circular design solutions and new partnerships to ensure more of this material can be reused or recycled, rather than discarded.
